Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How often should I change the fiberglass filter in my furnace?

A. Each home has its own need and variables. Check it once a month until you get in tune with how often it will be necessary. Changing your filter is a basic function that will in itself " if done regularly" keep your equipment operating at top efficiency.

Q. What is the best filter or filter style for my system?

A. The fiberglass filter is the standard Builder Grade offering. It is the entry level of the filter world. You should protect your furnace and A/c coil with a quality filter. An investment in a quality filtration system at this time could add years to your furnace and A/c life and keep your efficiency ratings at the levels you paid for when you purchased your system. With poor habits and poor Quality air filtration you can easily increase your operating costs by 50% as well as restrict the air flow in your home leaving some area's in your home starving for air flow. a Pleated filter is a fine comprimise However it still leaves you without the protection your Equipment deserves. Save a few bucks on the filter and harm your equipment. An *Aprilaire Filtration system will do the job for you and in the long run will save you more by far than your investment in it. See our Product Page for the *Aprilaire link and check them out. It will be informative.

Q. My Furnace won't run is their anything I can do for myself to get it running?

A. There are some safe things that you can do without harming your unit or yourself. Do you have fuel? Do you have Electric? DO you have a furnace switch and is it on? Have you cleaned or replaced your filter recently?, if so be sure the door on the furnace is properly closed. If the blower door is not in correctly the furnace won't operate. Check the thermostat and see if it is on and calling either for heat or cooling. Raise or lower the thermostat temperature to be sure of a call for heat or cooling. Check for tripped breakers and turn the proper breakers fully on and off again to insure their on [ whether or not it is visibly tripped]. Do not push the reset on your oil burner more than once as it could cause a dangerous condition. If you smell gas do nothing, do not turn any switches on or off. Leave your home and call us or your gas company.
